Awareness
The World Heath Organization estimates that one in five of approximately seven million people internally displaced in northeastern Nigerian is in need of mental health care. Yet there is only one facility in the entire region specializing in mental health.
One in five Americans experiences a mental health disorder in any given year. Many will receive treatment and recover or learn ways to live with their condition. Yet headlines about mental health too often focus on rare, sensational cases that lead to violence or death.
Mission & Vision
Our mission, vision, and values include dedication to enhance professional welfare of our members, provide technical assistance to psychiatric education in Nigeria, and to contribute to improvement of mental health care in Nigeria.
Please join us to accomplish these goals. This association belongs to Nigerian psychiatrists all over the world who are interested in moving psychiatry to higher levels. We also welcome non-Nigerians who have the best interest of Nigerian psychiatry at heart.
